Establishing a methodology for monitoring & evaluating Aimhigher activities: Early findings from Leicestershire pilot 2005/06
This is the first in a series of reports which will provide detailed analysis of the short-term evaluation of activities funded by Aimhigher and associated partners. The information is extrapolated from the Aimhigher East Midlands web-based monitoring and evaluation database, which combines activity and participant data to enable an activity biography of each participant to be established. In addition to the short term evaluation of specific activities, the database provides an invaluable resource in terms of assessing the effectiveness of the targeting of Aimhigher interventions based on criteria specified in guidance released by HEFCE in May 2007, ‘Higher education outreach: targeting disadvantaged learners’.
This initial report has been compiled using data from Aimhigher Leicestershire collected during the pilot year of the database. It is now in the process of being rolled-out to the rest of the East Midlands region and, as such, a number of enhancements have been made enabling much more valuable data to become available to partnerships. This report, however, provides a useful analysis of the early findings and an introduction to the methodology.
