Regional Evidence Strategy

Welcome to the Evidence section. Aimhigher partners are increasingly asked to provide evidence of the impact of interventions. Guided by the newly formed Evidence steering group, the region are continuously exploring and developing new and existing methodologies for providing short-, medium-, and long-term impact measurement of Aimhigher activities, as we seek to piece together the ‘evidence jigsaw’. The regional roll-out of the monitoring and evaluation database, previously run as a pilot in Leicestershire, is currently being developed to bring together all three stages of the evidence process. This will add further value to the qualitative and quantitative research carried out by Aimhigher East Midlands in conjunction with our partners, as we continue to develop our evidence strategy to meet national, regional and area needs.

The Evidence section is split into three sub-categories:-

Monitoring and Evaluation Database provides detailed information and procedures concerning the development of the regional roll-out of the monitoring and evaluation database.

Reports and publications: This provides reports and publications relating to the national, regional and area evidence agenda, and additional research concerning widening participation, and factors influencing progression to higher education. Many of the reports and publications will be available to download in PDF.

Targeting: This provides details of the development of methodologies and procedures relating to the effective targeting of widening participation interventions. Targeting is a crucial element of the overall evidence strategy, particularly in view of HEFCE’s recent guidance on the effective targeting of disadvantaged learners.
