The second “Steps into Health and Social Care” DVD has just been released and is anticipated to be as successful as the first version. The DVD has been produced by Nottingham City Council 14-19 Team and funded by Aimhigher East Midlands Healthcare Strand. The purpose of the DVD is to raise aspirations of young people and to further support teachers and careers advisors across the region in providing relevant up-to-date information, advice and guidance on career opportunities
This version of the DVD focuses on 4 new Healthcare professional areas:
• Speech & language therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Cytogenetics
• Radiography – including therapeutic radiography and diagnostic radiography
For each of these careers the DVD highlights the professionalism, benefits, rewards and vocational / academic routes associated with them by talking to real-life professionals who work for the NHS. Copies are currently being circulated to schools across the East Midlands in the hope that they will be utilised by the careers department and also within the Health & Social Care curriculum.
